Is Java more than just a holiday destination for you, and is Spring more than just one of your favorite seasons? Then join us and shape the Wealth Management of the future!
At Vontobel, we believe in shaping the future by creating innovative investment solutions that promote our clients’ success. We are looking for passionate people who want to make a difference and are ready to deliver state-of-the-art digital solutions. Here, you will not just be a software developer—you will be a key player in our Vontobel DigiHub, working in a diverse, innovative and interdisciplinary team to develop groundbreaking products.
Our solutions include the E-Banking platform with apps for private and professional clients, the digital investment app Vontobel Volt, digital onboarding, an application for risk-based investment advice, as well as collaborative tools that advisors can use together with clients to carry out product configurations and simulations. We use a modern tech stack including Angular, Spring Boot and OpenShift (Kubernetes), among others, and work in an agile environment.
Do you enjoy taking responsibility, have a strong DevOps mindset and are motivated to work in an agile team? And would you like to actively help shape the development of our E-Banking solution into the most important digital customer channel in our hybrid business model? Then we have the perfect challenge for you at the Vontobel DigiHub.
What would your responsibilities be?
As a Senior Full-Stack Engineer, you will become part of the agile, cross-functional team of developers, Business Engineers, UX experts, Scrum Master and Product Owner responsible for the Vontobel E-Banking platform.
- Developing new features across the entire stack using modern technologies and Agentic Engineering with GitHub Copilot.
- Taking responsibility for the entire software development and operations process (requirements analysis, design, implementation, testing, rollout and operations).
- Implementing automation in the build, test and deployment processes using CI/CD technologies to ensure a high level of software quality.
- Taking on 2nd/3rd-level support tasks for the systems you co-develop. In addition, the team provides on-call services, and a willingness to participate is required.
- Contributing new ideas to improve solutions and processes within the team and throughout the DigiHub.
- Taking ownership of topics and implementing them independently and in a structured manner in coordination with various stakeholders.
- Collaborating with a large number of internal and external stakeholders to achieve the best results.
What are we looking for?
- A degree in computer science or software development (ETH, university, FH, Swiss Federal Diploma).
- At least 6 years of experience in software development across the entire lifecycle (analysis, design, implementation, testing and deployment), ideally in an agile or DevOps environment.
- Practical experience in building web applications with modern Single Page App Frameworks (Angular, SCSS) and microservice architectures based on Kotlin and Java.
- Experience in the banking sector and investment knowledge, preferably in an E-Banking environment including Avaloq.
- Bonus points for experience in iOS/Android development.
- Good German and English skills are required.
- An affinity for Artificial Intelligence (AI) and a willingness to work with AI Tools.
What do we offer?
- Start-up vibe and the opportunity to revolutionize the future of digital banking.
- Agile working environment with Big Room Plannings, cross-team guilds and communities, reviews and demos with clients and stakeholders.
- Well-equipped workplaces in a central location in Zurich, plenty of space for collaborative work, and a latest-generation MacBook Pro as a work device. A move to Baar, to one of Switzerland’s most modern business parks, is planned for 2030.
- Workmode with 1 regular home-office day per week (Wednesday or Friday).
- Free lunch in the high-quality employee restaurant, free coffee, fresh fruit every day, table football and celebratory drinks.
We are looking for talented people and not just a résumé that meets all the criteria. Even if you do not have everything we ask of you, you should apply.

Questions about this listing
What salary does Vontobel offer for this role?
The original listing does not state a salary. Our estimate for this role and sector in Zürich is CHF 113'500 - 172'000 gross per year — an estimate, not a figure communicated by Vontobel. The calculator on this site converts a gross salary into your actual net take-home once cross-border tax and social contributions are applied.
Is this a full-time role, and what type of contract does Vontobel offer?
This listing is a full-time position. The contract type shown here comes directly from the employer's original posting; always confirm exact hours, notice period and probation length with Vontobel during the application process, since these details can vary by role even within the same contract category.
Do I need a cross-border work permit for a role in Zürich?
EU/EFTA residents living in the border zone of the country adjoining Canton Zürich can apply for a G permit; the Swiss employer files it with that canton's migration office after the contract is signed. Border-zone rules and processing times vary by neighbouring country and canton, so confirm the specifics with Zürich's cantonal migration office or with HR during the application.
