Company and context
- The Department of Safety, Health and Environment (SGU) advises, supports and trains all organizational units and members of ETH Zurich on questions relating to safety and health at work.
- It is the point of contact for all centrally organized measures in dealing with hazards and risks for the protection of people, animals, property values, infrastructure and the environment as well as for questions regarding compliance with the corresponding legal requirements.
- In the event of an incident, it shall maintain an appropriate emergency organisation.
- Both in everyday life and in the event of an incident, it works closely with the authorities and external forces.
- In the field of fire and explosion protection (BEx), we are responsible for the ETH-wide organization and coordination of structural, technical and organizational measures: this includes, for example, the development and updating of internal concepts, structural and technical specifications and leaflets, leadership or participation in integral safety concepts as well as control of their implementation.
- We also provide information and training for ETH members and contribute our expertise to construction projects.
- The digital documentation of the quality assurances carried out is also one of our tasks.
