Laboratory technician: in the high-voltage laboratory (m/f/d)

40%-60%, Zurich, temporary

The high-voltage technology professorship offers an interesting and varied working environment in one of the world’s leading research groups. Our group is a dynamic and very international working group at the Department of Information Technology and Electrical Engineering at ETH Zurich. The research focus of our group is on the environmentally friendly components of the electrical energy supply and thus supports industry and network operators in the energy transition. The position is closely involved in the various research projects of the group and you support the researchers in the design, construction and commissioning of experimental facilities.

Job description

• Design and design of experimental setups in close collaboration with other technical staff and researchers. Independent construction and construction of the same.
• Assistance in setting up and dismantling and conducting experiments in the high-voltage laboratory.
• Carry out various maintenance work on the test facilities of the high-voltage laboratory and the technical group after guidance from the laboratory manager.

Profile

• You have completed an apprenticeship as an electrical installer:in, electronics engineer:in, constructor:in, physics laboratory:in or similar
• Professional experience is beneficial but not mandatory

They have experience in some of the following areas and strong interest in learning the others:

• Electrical and electrotechnical fundamentals in theory and practice
• PCB Design, assembly and commissioning of electronic circuits
• CAD (e.g. Solidworks)
• Drawing of wiring diagrams (e.g. with E-plan) and wiring in switch cabinets
• Programming / automation (e.g. PLC or Python)
• Polymechanical capabilities (manual manufacturing and assembly)
• Very good knowledge of German and English in word and writing

In addition, we expect a high degree of social competence as well as the ability to adapt flexibly to different personalities, working methods and situations, independent thinking, critical thinking and questioning/improving solutions, as well as practical/craft skills in a predominantly experimental environment.
