The staff of the Vice President of Finance and Controlling is responsible at ETH Zurich for enterprise risk management, insurance, business continuity management and damage management. As a team directly under the responsibility of the Vice President of Finance and Controlling, we advise the school management and the organizational units on complex questions of organisational resilience.

To strengthen our small team, we are looking for an experienced specialist as Senior Business Continuity Manager (m/f/d) with proven expertise in Business Continuity Management and profound knowledge in Corporate Insurance Management.

Job description

The focus of your work is on the management of Business Continuity Management (BCM).

You are responsible for the further development and institutional integration of the BCM at one of the world's leading technical universities. You make a significant contribution to ensuring critical processes and infrastructures in research, teaching and knowledge transfer.

Business continuity management (around 60%)

• Technical responsibility for the BCM of ETH Zurich
• Control of the institutional anchoring and continuous development of the BCM based on ISO 22301 and recognized Best Practices.
• Further development of BCM governance, standards, methods and processes
• Advising the school management, managers and organizational units on complex questions of organisational resilience and preparation of reliable decision-making bases
• Conducting business-span analysis and development of business continuity and restart concepts
• Planning and management of BCM exercises, tests and awareness measures
• Structure and technical support of a decentralised BCM organisation
• Development of key figures and reporting on the maturity and effectiveness of the BCM

In addition, you will work on challenging issues in insurance, advise internal stakeholders and coordinate the handling of complex claims.

Insurance and claims management (around 40%)

• Assessment of complex insurance, liability and coverage issues related to research cooperation, novel technologies, international contracts, large infrastructures and procurement projects
• Assessment of demanding contractual clauses in terms of insurability and residual risks
• Participation in public tenders and further development of the insurance portfolio of ETH Zurich
• Cooperation with brokers, insurers, experts and internal and external specialists
• Coordination of major damage events from damage reporting to completion of regulation and derivation of appropriate prevention measures
• Management and cooperation in projects relating to organisational resilience

Profile

Professional and technical qualifications

• Graduated university degree (FH/University) at master's level
• Multi-annual professional experience (at least 8 to 10 years) in demanding technical functions of the Business continuity management system or organisational resilience, of which several years with professional responsibility
• A well-founded knowledge of recognised BCM standards and methods, in particular ISO 22301 and Best Practices and further training in BCM
• Well-founded knowledge in the field of business insurance and practical experience in assessing liability and coverage
