The Department of Mechanical Engineering and Process Engineering (D-MAVT) of ETH Zurich is the largest department of ETH Zurich with around 4000 students, over 40 professorships and 850 employees. To support our team, we are looking for a:n dedicated:n study coordinator: in (m/f/d) with a workload of 100%.

Job description

The tasks shall include the following responsibilities

Head of Studies Administration

• Leadership and further development of the teaching administration team at D-MAVT (5 employees)
• Overall responsibility for study and doctoral administration (BSc, MSc, doctorate, continuing education)

Coordination of studies

• Conception, introduction and strategic development of the degree programmes (BSc, MSc, doctorate)
• Support of the study directorate and the doctoral officer in regulation and policy work
• Analysis and preparation of key figures in the teaching sector

Studies advice

• Advice in complex study situations and coordination of study-relevant concerns
• Central contact person for students, doctoral candidates and lecturers as well as the rectorate in teaching matters
• Design and organisation of information and introduction events
• First point of contact for students and doctoral candidates for support in crisis situations and conflict management
• Maintenance and further development of international partnerships (mobility / exchange programmes)
• Advice and support for incoming and outgoing students

Profile

We seek a strategically minded and operationally strong personality for a key role at the interface of teaching, administration and academic governance. The position combines leadership responsibility, course development and complex coordination and consulting tasks in the university environment.

• You have a strong communication and negotiation competence, which enables you to act bindingly even in a demanding environment with different hierarchical levels, to set clear boundaries and to moderate consensus solutions.
• The ideal candidate has a completed doctorate, preferably in a technical-scientific or related field.
• An in-depth understanding of academic structures, especially in the field of teaching (BSc, MSc, doctorate), is required.
• Requires several years of relevant professional experience in a comparable capacity within the Academia.
• The requested person has proven leadership experience and is able to lead and develop a team in a goal-oriented manner.
• Very good knowledge of German and English in word and writing
