The Controlling department is located in the school management department of the Vice-Presidency of Finance and Controlling (VPFC) and supports the school management and the ETH units in the planning, budgeting and reporting process. It lays the foundations for a transparent financial management of ETH Zurich and is responsible for the design of the financial management and control systems as well as the unification and standardization of the ETH-wide controlling processes.

In order to strengthen our team, we are looking for a committed, analytically strong and digitally affine personality as a controller with a focus on digitalization (m/f/d), who actively shapes the further development of controlling at ETH Zurich.

Job description

• In your role as a controller: focusing on digitalization You will actively participate in financial management at one of Europe’s leading technical universities, accompany strategic projects and contribute new technologies to daily financial management.
• They ensure efficient use of funds and create transparency through sound financial analyses, meaningful management information and user-friendly decision-making bases. They analyze complex financial contexts, identify fields of action and derive concrete recommendations from them.
• They actively promote the digitalization of controlling and continuously develop processes, control logics and controlling approaches. They participate in financial and cross-divisional projects.
• They support the standardization and harmonization of controlling instruments, data models and internal management tools, help build BI solutions and automated evaluations and develop contemporary dashboards in close cooperation with our colleagues from Management Information and Digitalization.
• Support as a central contact for financial, reporting and analytical questions You have departments, central units as well as the school management and bring your controlling expertise to practical use. Together with various stakeholders, you will develop viable solutions for modern, data-based controlling.

Profile

• university degree in business administration or business informatics with in-depth knowledge or training in controlling or finance.
• Several years of professional experience (at least 5 years) in controlling.
• In-depth experience in digitalization, process optimization and SAP as well as in the development of modern AI, BI, reporting or automation solutions. They use digital tools pragmatically to efficiently develop analyses and processes.
• Extensive curiosity and pleasure in critically questioning existing processes, testing new technologies and developing innovative solutions for modern controlling.
• Strong analytical and conceptual skills as well as the competence to prepare complex financial issues in a comprehensible, precise and addressable manner.
• Proactive, self-responsible personality with strong team and communication skills as well as high quality standards. They enjoy working across departments and appreciate the exchange with different stakeholders.
• Interest in the peculiarities of a university environment, sensitivity for different stakeholders and very good knowledge of German and English.
