Student assistant as workshop leader: on an hourly basis (m/f/d)

The Wyss Zurich promotes outstanding project ideas in the fields of regenerative medicine, robotics and life science. In this way, we want to translate promising research results into innovative treatment methods and clinical therapies as well as into new technologies and products. Project background

With mint & pepper, the Wyss Zurich project for the promotion of young talent, children and young people have direct access to current research. In the eventful and specially designed offers, children and adolescents work on problem-solving tasks, gain a deeper understanding of complex contexts and thus experience STEM and life sciences as a solution tool for urgent social problems. In doing so, they discover and strengthen their own talents and abilities, broaden their horizons for training and career choice and use their individual strengths to shape their future and ours all.

Job description

Are you interested in current technologies and interaction with children and adolescents? Are you a:e ETH Zurich or UZH Student:in and looking for a side job? Would you like to gain a lot of new learning and professional experience in a responsible position? Are you committed, flexible and proactive?

• As a workshop leader: in (coach) you inspire children and young people at schools and/or in leisure activities for STEM topics.
• You will lead mint & pepper workshops, such as “Magic Cube – Fascination with Electrical Engineering”, “DanceBots – your robot that dances” and “Thymio – Programming your way through the labyrinth”
• Through your own passion for technologies, you motivate the children and young people to participate and at the same time be a role model for them as a student: in the STEM sector.
• After a comprehensive introduction to the workshop content as well as the administrative and material engineering organization around the workshops, you will conduct the first workshops together with an experienced coach before taking over the leadership yourself.
• The workshops are usually conducted by two coaches together.
• The workshops take place throughout German-speaking Switzerland and occasionally in Western Switzerland.
• The workshops are usually scheduled during the week, each on different days.
• The workshops last 1.5 hours up to 2 days.
• As soon as you are workshop leader:in, you get access to the job portal.
• After the introduction to the workshops, you can register for the respective assignments in the job portal.
• In addition to your work as a workshop manager, you can sometimes take on flexible work in the warehouse or for material repairs (workshop materials).

Profile

We are looking for a flexible, responsible, positioned and committed person who brings the following:

• ETH or UZH student:in
• Driving licence B
• Flexibility
• Open-minded, proactive and trusting
• High quality awareness and own initiative
• Stylistic German, French and English is an advantage
