At ETH Zurich, more than 20,000 students study at Bachelor's and Master's level or are enrolled as listeners. The IT services support teaching, research and administration with services in the field of information and communication technologies.

For the strategic project "Digital Campus", we are looking for a committed and reliable personality for the deputy IT project management for a temporary assignment until the end of 2028.

Project background

In the "Digital Campus" project, the existing teaching business landscape is fundamentally renewed. More than 50 existing applications are to be replaced by configurable standard software, which is integrated into the ETH system landscape and further developed in a targeted manner. The project combines professional transformation, system integration, data migration and challenging architecture and governance issues.

Job description

You take on a central role in a major strategic project and represent IT project management in defined management, coordination and control tasks. In doing so, you ensure the successful integration of the new teaching application into the ETH system landscape and coordinate the necessary adjustments taking into account all relevant dependencies.

Together with business engineers, project managers, the software provider as well as specialist and IT positions, you will work on a sustainable and successful implementation. You support the ICT architecture in defining the target image, in technical decisions and in ensuring architectural conformity. In addition, you are responsible for the creation, coordination and quality assurance of the compliance-relevant documents.

With your focus on efficient cooperation and clear responsibilities, you actively contribute to the further development of the project methodology and the project organization.

Profile

• Technical background: You have a completed degree in computer science, business informatics or a related field.
• Experience: You bring proven experience in managing complex IT projects and know the special requirements of large projects.
• Project management expertise: You move confidently in classic, agile and hybrid process models
• Practical experience with HERMES, Scrum and Kanban is beneficial.
• Certification: A recognized project management or agile certification (e.g. IPMA, PMI, HERMES, Scrum) is an advantage, but not a mandatory requirement.
• Technical know-how: You have good knowledge of IT architectures, system integration, software development, data migration and cyber security.
• Analytical strength: You think in a structured way, analyze complex relationships in a targeted manner, develop viable solutions and make well-founded, comprehensible decisions.
• Communication skills: You bring technical content to the point – clear, understandable and addressable for different stakeholders.
• Leadership and personal responsibility: You take on responsibility, bring participants together and act proactively.
• Tool security: You are familiar with and use common project management and collaboration tools such as Jira, Confluence and Microsoft 365.
