IMPORTANT: Be sure to check out the details of the recruitment process under “Good to know”!
Who you are
As a learner:r at IKEA Switzerland you are not alone on the road - you are part of a large learner community. Together you will experience how exciting and varied it is to work in an international company, take on responsibility and develop yourself further. Because during your apprenticeship, we show you step by step everything you need to be safe in your professional life after your apprenticeship and to achieve your own goals.
In sales, you are right in the middle of it: you help our customers to find the right thing for their home - friendly, honest and competent. You enjoy reaching out to people and giving them an IKEA shopping experience they love to remember.
You don't have to be able to do everything yet! It is important that you are curious, like to learn and feel like participating in IKEA.
In order to suit us well, you ideally bring the following
- You enjoy being with other people and feel comfortable talking to people.
- You are interested in living, furniture and furnishings - you like to set up your room, look at decorative ideas or try something yourself.
- You can listen well and try to understand what others need – for example, when someone asks you for advice or wants help.
- You like to work in a team, for example in group work at school or in an association, but you can also do tasks independently.
- You can basically organize yourself: homework, exams and hobbies you usually get well under a hat.
- You are safe with computer or tablet, speak very good German and already understand a bit of English.
You are responsible for
- You will learn how to create a special IKEA experience together with your team – so that our customers feel welcome and feel like coming back.
- You practice how you actively advise our customers: You show them products, explain interior ideas and can explain our services, such as transport or assembly, simply and understandably.
- You will find out how you ensure with your advice that customers are satisfied and leave the furniture store with new ideas for their home.
- You will learn how to keep your sales area neat and clear: fill shelves, present products beautifully and make sure that everything looks inviting.
- You will work with different departments in the store – for example with our interior designers – and help develop new ideas and solutions for our customers.
Good to know
Please submit your application online. Unfortunately, we cannot consider applications by e-mail or post.
Add the following files to your profile
- your CV or a document with more information about you* – so that we can see who you are, what is important to you and what makes you special.
- the certificates of the last two years of school – so we see whether you are ready for an EBA or EFZ (with or without BM). We want to be open and honest: Unexcused absences unsettle us whether you bring enough motivation for the rather strenuous vocational school. If you have absences, a short explanation in your application would help us to better understand your situation and assess your motivation.
- voluntary supplements such as trial reports or personal work/projects of which you are proud
Supplement
A letter of motivation is not mandatory for us. We are looking for people who are right for us and motivated to do their apprenticeship at IKEA. That’s why we invite shortlisted applicants to an afternoon at the IKEA store to get to know us and give you a first glimpse of how an apprenticeship at IKEA works. This makes it easier for us all to decide whether it suits well - you and us.
The day of getting to know takes place on 23.09.2026 from 10:00 to 17:00 in the furniture store Dietlikon.
More information about the application process and our most important application tips can be found on our website: www.ikea.ch/vocational training

Questions about this listing
What salary does IKEA offer for this role?
The original listing does not state a salary. Our estimate for this role and sector in Dietlikon is CHF 62'000 - 94'000 gross per year — an estimate, not a figure communicated by IKEA. The calculator on this site converts a gross salary into your actual net take-home once cross-border tax and social contributions are applied.
Is this a full-time role, and what type of contract does IKEA offer?
This listing is a full-time position. The contract type shown here comes directly from the employer's original posting; always confirm exact hours, notice period and probation length with IKEA during the application process, since these details can vary by role even within the same contract category.
Do I need a cross-border work permit for a role in Zürich?
EU/EFTA residents living in the border zone of the country adjoining Canton Zürich can apply for a G permit; the Swiss employer files it with that canton's migration office after the contract is signed. Border-zone rules and processing times vary by neighbouring country and canton, so confirm the specifics with Zürich's cantonal migration office or with HR during the application.
