Role overview

Within EPFL Sustainability, attached to the Vice-Presidentship for Research and Strategic Initiatives, your mission will be to work with laboratories, centres and platforms to estimate and reduce their environmental footprint without affecting the quality of research.

You will work in interface with various Vice-Presidencys and the Faculty of EPFL, you will be led to:

  • In delegation from the Head of Service, support, monitor and ensure the planning and implementation of the Green Labs component of the Climate and Sustainability Strategy
  • Support laboratories, centres and platforms in reducing their environmental impact
  • Participate in the definition of reduction targets targeted by laboratory typology
  • Develop and propose a funding plan to support labs and platforms in the deployment of reduction measures: the question of a dedicated fund arises
  • Participate in national and international working groups
  • Conducting carbon balances of research activities for laboratories, centres and platforms
  • Analyse energy and resource consumption
  • Deploy LEAF, Sparhub or My Green Lab certifications

Key requirements

  • Control of carbon accounting principles (e.g. GHG Protocol)
  • Knowledge of methods, tools and standards for quantifying environmental footprints such as life cycle analysis
  • High interest in sustainability and environmental footprint reduction
  • Experience with ACV software like SimaPro a plus
  • Demonstrated knowledge of the academic world
  • Language skills: French, English imperative
  • Analysis and synthesis capacity, editorial convenience Ability to work in transversality
  • Demonstrate autonomy, pro-activity and strength of proposal Ethics and scientific rigour We offer
