Role overview
Background and mission Swissnoso, the national centre for the prevention of nosocomial infections, has been mandated to monitor surgical site infections (SSI) in Swiss hospitals since 2009.
Epidemiologic surveillance of ISS is a prospective method of monitoring patients operated to detect and diagnose infections using a validated method based on international clinical criteria.
It is a permanent activity for the collection, analysis, interpretation of data and the return of results The nurse in charge of surveillance of surgical site infections ensures active follow-up of post-operative patients to detect infections using a validated method based on clinical and international criteria.
It operates under the supervision of HPCI.
Main tasks
- Actively monitor the clinical evolution of patients operated (hospital follow-up, post-exit up to 30-90 days, telephone interviews, file review).
- Enter standardized data (patients, interventions, infections) on the Swissnoso platform and validate infectious cases under the supervision of HPCI
- Participate in compulsory Swissnoso training (introduction and annual workshops) Training and qualifications required
- Diploma of Nurse
- At least 2 years experience in surgery or surgery
