Full description

The Directorate-General for Agriculture, Viticulture and Veterinary Affairs designs and implements the cantonal and federal policy for sustainable agriculture, while ensuring the training of agricultural professions and the enforcement of legislation on animal health and welfare. Its staff consists of advisory and cross-cutting support functions for management and staff, including a legal team. To strengthen the existing team of lawyers, you bring your expertise in public law and are required to write appeals, with the possibility of representing management at hearings.

• Advise the staff on legal issues in their files.
• Support management on legal, strategic and political issues, both in writing and in oral form.
• Investigate appeals against decisions of the Directorate-General and draft the corresponding procedural documents.
• Supervise or draft reasoned administrative decisions in fact and in law.
• Draft and adapt draft laws, decrees, regulations and directives governing the activities of the service.
• Accompany individuals and entities outside the State of Vaud in their legal matters and ensure legal oversight.

• Master's degree in law, required
• Patent of lawyer, an asset
• Professional experience of at least 2 years in agricultural, wine and/or veterinary matters, an asset
• Knowledge of public procurement as an asset
• Very good drafting skills, with particular ease in drafting legal and normative texts
• Good knowledge of German required, especially for reading doctrine and jurisprudence
• A sense of responsibility, public service ethics and customer orientation
• Adaptability, flexibility and global vision, with a common sense of perspective
• Excellent communication skills, listening skills, self-help and collaboration
