As a specialist inspector at the Office de la consommation (OFCO), attached to the Department of Agriculture, Sustainability and Climate and Digital Affairs, you are working on consumer protection and food safety and the usual objects in its task of monitoring the industrial sector on a cantonal scale. You plan and coordinate inspections, samples and interventions and conduct investigations and recommendations. In close collaboration with the relevant authorities and partners, you contribute to continuous improvement, quality assurance and the sharing of expertise within the inspection sector.

• To assume responsibility for the supervision of a specific industrial sector in the field of cheesemaking, butchery, food supplements, cosmetic products (non-exhaustive list) for the whole cantonal territory, as technical reference, and to ensure the protection of the consumer, as well as the legal conformity of undertakings, businesses and public establishments producing or marketing foodstuffs or articles used in a sector of the cantonal territory.
• Plan, organize and coordinate inspection and sampling missions, as well as alarm response, in its area of specialization including for complex or high-level situations.
• Analyze and deal with complex and sensitive cases, conduct investigations required by the Cantonal Inspector and make technical and/or operational recommendations.
• Managing specific issues requiring enhanced coordination with other cantonal or national supervisory bodies and institutional partners.
• Actively contribute to the continuous improvement of the inspection of foodstuffs and usual objects, to the maintenance and development of the quality assurance system and to the sharing of expertise within the Inspectorate.

• Diploma HES (Bachelor) or equivalent, in a field related to food safety or usual objects
• CAS in Internal Audit and Federal Diploma in Food Control (DCAl), which can be carried out in-service
• Professional experience in foodstuffs of 5 years minimum
• Knowledge of different food technologies and standards, cantonal, federal and international laws and ordinances on foodstuffs and common objects and their good practice guides
• Mastery of the procedures of appeal and criminal denunciation of food law and excellent knowledge of the quality management system and ISO 17020, 17025 and 22716 standards
