Full description

As an inspector at the Office de la consommation (OFCO), attached to the Department of Agriculture, Sustainability and Climate and Digital Affairs, you actively contribute to the protection of consumers and food safety and the usual objects in its task of monitoring shops and public establishments on a cantonal scale. You plan and coordinate inspections, samples and interventions and conduct investigations and recommendations. In close cooperation with the relevant authorities and partners, you contribute to continuous improvement, quality assurance and the sharing of expertise within the inspection sector.

• To ensure the protection of the consumer, as well as the legal conformity of public enterprises, businesses and establishments producing or marketing foodstuffs or articles common to a particular geographical area of the cantonal territory.
• Plan, organize and coordinate inspection and sampling missions, as well as alarm response, within the framework defined by the Cantonal Inspector.
• Analyze complex cases, conduct investigations required by the Cantonal Inspector and participate in joint or small teams interventions on mandate.
• Managing specific issues requiring enhanced coordination with other cantonal or national supervisory bodies and institutional partners.
• Actively contribute to the continuous improvement of the inspection of foodstuffs and usual objects, to the maintenance and development of the quality assurance system and to the sharing of expertise within the Inspectorate.

• Federal Certificate of Capacity (FCC) from the food field supplemented by food specialization or training deemed equivalent
• Federal Diploma in Food Control (DCAl) which can be carried out during employment
• Professional experience in foodstuffs of 5 years minimum
• Knowledge of different food technologies and standards, cantonal, federal and international laws and ordinances on foodstuffs and common objects and their good practice guides
• Knowledge of procedures for the review and criminal reporting of food law, quality management system and ISO 17020 and 17025 standards
• Public service responsibilities and ethics

• Good oral expression and editorial skills
• Assertivity and independence of judgement
• Need to make one-off night or weekend interventions or even holidays
• Driving licence and provision of private vehicle for business travel
