Missions

You ensure the proper operation and availability of the IT hosting centers (datacenters) of the Cantonal Administration of Vaud (ACV):

• Plan regular maintenance of vital equipment (power supply, ventilation, cooling, anomaly detection)
• Coordinate supplier interventions and ensure regular maintenance of the datacenters
• Regularly check and test the proper operation of datacenter infrastructures
• Monitor and analyze performance, publish reports and statistics on defined indicators

You carry out the day-to-day operational activities of the datacenters:

• Manage and keep technical infrastructures (racks, cabling, equipment) up to date
• Control and log access to the datacenters
• Install, test and validate equipment and links
• Handle incidents according to their priority within agreed deadlines
• Monitor datacenter surveillance tools
• Ensure the update of management tools, documentation and inventories

You contribute to the implementation of new solutions within the datacenters:

• Provide infrastructure experts with the necessary support during the implementation and testing of new solutions
• Contribute to the improvement of the DGNSI Management System

You participate in the on-call duty service

• Proactively supervise the operation of the datacenters outside business hours
• Resolve serious incidents and escalate complex incidents as quickly as possible
• Grant access to people who need to intervene urgently outside business hours

Profile sought

Education

• Diploma of Technician ES (Higher Technical School) in a technical, IT or electrical trade (required)
• Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or building services engineering (desirable)
• Certification in operational datacenter management and/or ITIL Foundation certification (required)

Professional experience

• 5 years of experience in operating datacenter-type environments
• 3 years of experience in fire safety, flood safety and crisis management

Technical knowledge

• IT hardware (network equipment, servers, storage)
• Building services engineering (air conditioning, ventilation, electricity, surveillance and alarm)
• Datacenter infrastructure (racks, cabling)
• Technical English level B1 (required) – German level B1 (desirable)
• Proficiency in ACV standard office tools (MS-Office suite, messaging, ITSM) (desirable)

• Category B driving license required.
• A spirit of mutual aid, adaptability, sense of responsibility, good organization and solid stress management are your strengths.
• Your attention to detail and pursuit of perfection will also be highly valued.

Specific on-call duties

• Work possible outside standard hours (night, Saturday, Sunday and public holidays)
• Participation in the night and public holiday on-call service
• Residence in Switzerland required
• Police accreditation required
