Canton of Zurich Prison and Reintegration Internship in the Social Service 80% Prison and Reintegration (JuWe) is responsible as part of the Directorate of Justice and Home Affairs of the Canton of Zurich for the execution of penalties and measures as well as the execution of various types of detention. For our 1,400 employees from around 40 professions, the successful social reintegration of people who have committed crimes, the prevention of recidivism and the detention and preparation of the departure of persons without a valid residence permit are of particular importance. The Bachtel Prison Center (VZB) is one of the prison institutions of the Canton of Zurich (VEZ) – one of seven main departments of the JuWe – and is an institution specialized in the open execution of prison sentences and substitute prison sentences. The VZB offers space for more than 90 detained persons. For the social service of the VZB we offer an internship from February 2027. The internship can be completed either for 6 months until August 2027 or for one year until February 2028. Your tasks

• Support for the socio-educational care of detainees within the special department of the integration prison
• Independent conduct of initial interviews and drafting of enforcement plans
• Assistance and contact services in the fields of employment, housing, finance and social assistance
• Create and examine applications for material and relationship leave and ensure the leave process
• Administrative tasks such as general correspondence, files, leave applications with programme review, requests for conditional dismissals with recommendations and enforcement reports
• Interdisciplinary cooperation with law enforcement agencies and external bodies such as the Psychiatric Psychological Service (PPD), probation and enforcement authorities, courts, migration and social services
• Participation in team meetings and projects Your profile
• Currently studying Social Work
• Interest in criminal issues and willingness to engage with people in difficult situations and with different social and cultural backgrounds
• Strong and communicative personality
• High psychological and physical resilience
• Initial administrative experience and strong organisational skills Our offer
