In order to develop a joint pilot project between the Health Department and the Orthopaedic Surgical and Traumatology Service, the HFR Fribourg – Cantonal Hospital is looking for one/one:

Nurse Specialist Practitioner (IPS) in orthopaedic surgery and trauma 80-100% - CSD of one year

Your mission

• Exercise advanced nursing practice with patients in orthopaedic surgery, trauma and orthogeriatry, within the defined legal, conventional and institutional framework
• Transversal care of inpatients and outpatients, alternating between hospital units and consultations according to the needs of the service and the different teams
• Conduct clinical assessments, monitor patient progression, and prescribe or adapt examinations and treatments according to established medico-care protocols
• Participate in pre-operative elective admissions, post-operative follow-up, visits, exit preparation and co-ordination of the care path
• Consult with post-operative follow-up and outpatient follow-up of defined orthopaedic situations, including clinical assessment, wound care, control examinations and protocol adaptation of rehabilitation
• Coordinate the various professionals involved, inform and accompany patients and their relatives and contribute to the continuity of care between the hospital, treating doctors, rehabilitation and home care
• Work closely with the physician(s) and medical team; seeking medical validation or re-entry when the situation exceeds your competence or requires medical expertise or decision
• Participate in developing and updating protocols, improving the quality and safety of care and monitoring clinical indicators of the pilot project
• Contribute to team formation, research and clinical development activities

Your profile

• You have a Bachelor of Science in Nursing or an equivalent qualification recognised by the Swiss Red Cross
• You have a Master of Science in Nursing, Specialty Practitioner Nursing Orientation (MSc IPS), or meet the requirements for performing the function
• You have a clinical nursing experience of at least 4 years, ideally complemented by a recognized experience or expertise in surgery, orthopaedics, traumatology or related clinical areas
• You have strong expertise in clinical evaluation, clinical reasoning, care coordination and interprofessional collaboration
• You enjoy professional autonomy while working in close partnership with medical and nursing teams
• You are motivated to participate in building a new model of advanced practice, developing protocols and evaluating an innovative pilot project
• You master French at an advanced level; knowledge of German and English is an asset

We offer you

• A position at the heart of an innovative institutional pilot project, built jointly by the Directorate of Care and the Orthopaedic and Traumatological Surgery Service. You will integrate a clinical organization allowing for a transversal advanced practice between hospitalization and consultation, with an evolutionary scope of activity according to the skills acquired, protocols and needs of the service. Participation in certain activities in the operating block may also be considered as required, skills and institutional conditions.
• The position includes approximately 90% clinical activity and 10% training and research activities. You will benefit from a formal medical partnership, close collaboration with the medical-care teams and a regular joint evaluation of the project to gradually adapt its organisation and scope.
