You can look forward to this. As a train driver, you do great things: at SBB Passenger Transport you move around 482 million passengers every year. After completing the paid 18-month secondary training, the job will take you along the most beautiful railway routes in Switzerland. You get our passengers to their destination on time and ensure a positive travel experience with SBB. You complete the training in Italian at the training center in Bellinzona. After basic training, you will spend three months deepening your skills on the routes of your previous rayon. Your new area of operation in central Switzerland (Lucerne, Arth-Goldau or Zug) will then be waiting for you. You are willing to move to this region. Your everyday working life is also full of prospects with attractive conditions for all life situations. We pay additional wages for night and weekend work – for example, 16 francs per hour for Sunday work. For night shifts you also have a time surcharge of between 10 and 30 percent. This means you have more free time than employees without night and weekend shifts. In addition, after training to become a train driver, you can individually design your workload from 60 percent upon consultation, with different part-time models available to you. You can move that.
- As a train driver, you not only take on the lead of the train, but also responsibility for safety and punctuality on the busy rail network.
- During your journey you are mindful and react quickly and correctly to signals, speed controls and unforeseeable events.
- You act independently and are in contact with operations centers and control centers at all times.
- In addition to driving and maneuvering trains, your tasks also include checking the technical condition before and after taking over the vehicle. Find out more about the career profile at the next information event. This is what you bring with you.
- You have completed a three-year apprenticeship or high school diploma. Your motivation is more important to us than the industry you come from.
- You approach challenges calmly, make well-considered decisions even in stressful situations and are willing to work shifts.
- You are fluent in Italian (level C2) and have a good knowledge of German (level B1).
- You have a perfect sense of color (no red-green weakness) and have no entries in the criminal or debt enforcement register.
- You have a lot of personal responsibility and motivation for the intensive and demanding training period and are willing to get involved in different learning environments
- from on-site classroom lessons to digital self-study.
