What you do

Shaping the future of Smile with technology

• As a member of the Smile Management Board, you bring the technology perspective into entrepreneurial decisions. You set impulses and are a strategic sparring partner for the CEO, your peers and other smile environment, as well as relevant stakeholders within the Helvetia Group.
• You translate our corporate strategy and ambitious business goals into a clear technology and architecture strategy with a feasible roadmap – with a focus on customer value, cost-effectiveness and scalability.
• You will continue to develop our architecture and technology platforms and drive the modernization of our core systems. You decide well where in-house development, standard solutions or technology partners create the greatest added value.

Accelerate delivery and make AI effective

• Together with Digital Product and the business units, you set clear priorities and optimize end-to-end software delivery – including integration and operations. You create the conditions for good ideas to become reliable solutions faster.
• You drive the AI transformation of your teams with suitable tools, new ways of working and active change management. You anchor AI in software development, testing and operations as well as in digital customer solutions – with clear responsibilities, reliable quality assurance and secure system access.
• Together with the business units, you will design end-to-end digital business processes and accelerate automation and self-service.
• You will lead strategically relevant transformation initiatives from conception to effective implementation. Results are quickly visible: better customer experience, growth, higher efficiency and quality, and shorter time-to-market.

Strengthening people and ensuring reliable operation

• You lead and develop our IT teams in software development, architecture and operations and actively shape the business transformation. You create an environment where people take responsibility, think ambitiously and deliver together. In doing so, you live up to our values #DreamBig, #SayitDoit and #ThinkCommunity.
• You ensure a stable, secure and efficient IT operation and are responsible for technological security at management level. Security, resilience, regulatory requirements and the protection of customer data are an integral part of our systems and partner integrations. You manage risks together with the responsible risk and compliance functions.
• You are responsible for IT budget, resources and technology partnerships and use them in a targeted and economical way.

What you bring

• You are a strong leader: you draw a clear picture of the future and inspire people for it. You make complex connections understandable, give orientation and make decisions. In doing so, you lead in an appreciative and committed manner, strengthen your own responsibility and encourage your team to question what already exists and to break new ground.
• You will bring several years of experience in the successful management and development of a technology or engineering organization in a digital company, for example as CTO, Head of Engineering or Head of Technology & Transformation. You have designed technological and organizational changes.
• You understand digital business models and see where technology can make a difference. You are at the pulse of technological developments and develop concrete solutions for Smile together with the business units from relevant opportunities.
• You move confidently between strategic questions and technical details - from make-or-buy decisions and the design of technology partnerships to the sound assessment of architectural decisions.
• You will have a good understanding of modern software development, scalable cloud architectures, software and data platforms as well as API-based systems, and experience in modernizing grown system landscapes. You can also judge technological decisions with regard to high availability and security.
• You have experience using AI in engineering processes, tools or digital products. You can assess potential, limits and prerequisites and want to develop effective applications from them.
• Experience in insurance, financial services or another regulated environment is beneficial.
• You communicate convincingly and with confidence in negotiations in German and English and bring different stakeholders together for common goals.
