Job Description

The assessors are non-professional judges who have decision-making authority in judicial matters (art. 4 LJ). An assessor is convened according to the needs of the authority concerned. He/she receives session allowances in accordance with art. 79a RJ. The assessors are elected by the Grand Council, upon notice from the Judicial Council which puts out a competition for judicial functions for the Grand Council (art. 12 LJ). The assessors of the industrial tribunals are chosen equally from within employers' organizations and within workers' organizations (art. 55 LJ).

Desired profile

• Be a member of a workers' organization (Art. 55 al. 2 LJ). Letter of support or recommendation from the organization to produce
• Domicile in the judicial district concerned (Veveyse)
• Candidates must have sufficient availability for the role (sessions can take place during the day)
• Active citizenship at the cantonal level. Persons of foreign nationality must hold a settlement permit and have been domiciled in the canton for at least five years. Candidates must not be the subject of an act of lack of assets, and must not have been criminally convicted for facts incompatible with the function
• Mastery of the French language with knowledge of German
