The range of clinical services of the Institute of Anesthesiology and Perioperative Medicine (IFA) includes all anesthesia procedures for outpatient and inpatient surgical and diagnostic procedures, including comprehensive pre- and postoperative care.
Further central tasks are the treatment of acute and chronic pain, the shock room care of critically ill patients and the internal clinical resuscitation service.
In addition, the institute provides emergency medical specialists for preclinical ground and airborne emergency care as well as the intensive care service in close cooperation with Schutz & Rettung Zürich (SRZ) and the Swiss Rescue Air Guard (REGA).

Main responsibilities
- Self-responsible anesthesiological care of patients of all disciplines in surgical, interventional and diagnostic areas of primary care, maximum care and highly specialized medicine, including the care of complex cardio and vascular surgery as well as transplantation medical interventions
- Participation in shift and background services
- Assumption of management, organisational and coordination tasks
- Engagement in the continuous development of the institute, in particular active participation and further development of medical further education, health care, quality assurance, research and teaching including the design and implementation of new teaching and further education formats
- Guidance, supervision, training and mentoring of assistant and cadre doctors
- Assuming regulatory leadership responsibility in translational research Requirements
- Specialist title in anesthesiology (FMH or equivalent)
- Many years of professional and managerial experience in a university environment with universal operational applicability and flexibility
- In-depth experience in cardiosurgical, vascular and transplantation medical anesthesiology
- Habilitation or habilitation-equivalent performance as well as proven experience in experimental and translational research, didactic skills
