Main responsibilities
- Administration and assurance of the operation and security of the heterogeneous (MacOS, Windows, Linux) IT environment and its components (hardware and software, services).
- Support for 100 clients (updates, backup clients (macOS + WIN) and remote support; UniBern VPN 2FAFortiClient;
- Filemaker Pro 19 servers and data archives;
- Canon multifunction devices, as well as various printers.
- Installation of workstations (client and server) including system and user software and printers.
- Evaluation and purchase of computers and peripherals, system and user software as well as inventory of hardware, software and network components.
- Independent and forward-looking correction of software and hardware malfunctions.
- Processing of support requests on site, by phone/Teams/TeamViewer/ etc.
- Assistance in locating, limiting and resolving disruptions.
Application process
- 1st and 2nd-level user support of the institute staff (researchers, students, technical and administrative staff) in the application of the existing systems including support smartphones (iOS and Android) and laptops of the students.
- Cooperation with the institute administrations and contacts for the central computer services of the University of Bern and the IT managers of other institutes.
- Support for video conferencing and maintenance of institute websites. Requirements
- Completed vocational apprenticeship Computer Science EFZ or equivalent.
- In-depth knowledge in the field of Apple and Windows client engineering (MacOS and Windows) and in the Microsoft server environment, Active Directory, DHCP server, network infrastructure;
- Firewall (FortiClient), experience in the field of IT security/cybersecurity, in particular in the protection of networks and devices.
- Additional knowledge in database management (e.g.
- Filemaker Pro 2019), Linux, and standard applications in the research environment (EndNote, Adobe Suite, GraphPad, Prism, Zoom, Microsoft365 Suite) are beneficial.
