Role overview

The cantonal office (KAST) of the unemployment insurance provides for a uniform implementation of the unemployment insurance law (AVIG) at cantonal level.

The KAST deals with reports and transfers of the regional employment services centres (RAV) and the unemployment funds on issues of entitlement.

Main responsibilities

  • Implementation of the measures catalogue according to the unemployment insurance law (Art. 85 of the Act)
  • Clarification of the entitlement of the insured persons
  • Processing of requests in the special topics of decree and short work / bad weather
  • Clarification of complex facts and largely independent decision-making up to the level of the decision-making
