Role overview

Tasks - Ensure and provide adapted pedagogical tools from 1H to 11H, supported by a transcription service: magnifications, digital documents, or in braille.

Encourage and promote the use of these tools.

• Keep a logbook and prepare an annual report for each student.

• Participate in a network involving regular school professionals and various specialists (occupational therapists, mobility rehabilitators, daily living activities and visual function specialists, ophthalmologists, etc.).

• Requirements - Master’s degree in specialized teaching (obtained or in progress); obtaining the Master’s is mandatory for practicing this profession.

• Initial training as a teacher (HEP), specialized educator (HES), or Master’s in pedagogy or psychology, followed by additional training leading to the diploma of specialized teaching (recognized by the Conference of Directors of Public Education - CDIP) in service of the HEP.

• Willingness to develop and keep up-to-date the specific professional knowledge and skills necessary for the role through continuous training.

• Familiarity with common computer tools.

• Organizational skills and flexibility, ability to work independently.

• Sense of responsibility and ability to handle complex situations.
