Role overview
The acute care department at the Lucerne site has 21 beds and provides interdisciplinary care for both surgical and internist patients.
The overarching goal is to maintain and restore independence in everyday life and the quality of life.
In addition to the treatment of the underlying disease, geriatric syndromes such as gait and balance disorder, cognition, polypharmacy, sensory deficits, swallowing disorder or malnutrition are clarified and treated.

Main responsibilities
- Ensuring high-quality, evidence-based geriatric care on the acute geriatric ward, including OA visits, interprofessional case meetings and family meetings, and participation in the general internal medicine service system
- Engagement in the education and training of assistant doctors and nurses and participation in geriatric and orthogeriatric training
- Active participation in the Old Age Accident Center as an interdisciplinary lighthouse project of orthogeriatric care, including accident surgery visits, consiliary care, AUZ report and geriatric consultation
- Participation in the further development of acute geriatrics, with a perspective participation in the internistic visiting service as well as the opportunity for clinical research and academic development Requirements
- Specialist title General Internal Medicine (FMH or equivalent) with focus title Geriatrics (recognized degree or in further education, shortly before graduation)
- Proven clinical expertise in acute care medicine with solid anchoring in internal medicine
- Experience in orthogeriatric care is beneficial
