Lawyer 70-80%, limited to 12 months (m/f/d), with permanent employment option

Refugees, persecuted and/or threatened people should receive appropriate protection in Switzerland. Caritas Switzerland gives these people a voice and is committed to fair trials. For this purpose, Caritas Switzerland offers legal advice and representation in the Central Swiss cantons of Lucerne, Nidwalden, Obwalden, Schwyz, Uri and Zug as well as in Freiburg, Jura and Neuchâtel on asylum and foreigners law. With the introduction of the new asylum procedure in Switzerland, asylum seekers are, among other things, entitled to legal protection in the extended asylum procedure. Particularly complex cases or those that require further investigations are assessed in this context by the State Secretariat for Migration. We offer an interesting and varied working environment in a motivated team at the interface of law and social commitment.

Their tasks

Independent content and administrative dossier management in mandate cases, in particular:

• Personal, telephone and written legal advice
• Representation in proceedings at the SEM under extended procedure
• Representation in complaint proceedings at the Federal Administrative Court Representation in proceedings at the cantonal (migration) authorities
• Observation of practice, jurisprudence and teaching in the relevant fields of law, in particular in asylum and foreigners law

Our requirements

• Law degree (Master of Law or lic. iur.), work experience in legal representation
• Sound knowledge and practical experience in Swiss asylum and migration law
• Strong legal-editorial skills in German, good Italian skills of advantage, French and English skills desired, further language skills of advantage
• High social skills, resilience and flexibility
• Experience in dealing with people from other cultural backgrounds, with traumatised and vulnerable people and in intercultural communication

The place of work is Lucerne. Start of work: 01.12.2026 or by arrangement.
