- Your responsibilities:
- Participate in feasibility studies and preliminary design of new projects, including the coordination of civil engineering design services with external design offices (architects/engineers) and other equipment/services (MEP building services and accelerator equipment), leading to the submission of detailed designs to CERN users.
- Interest in construction projects and project coordination, with a willingness to learn under the guidance of senior engineers.
- Organised, proactive, flexible and able to work autonomously in a multi-tasking environment.
Main responsibilities
- Your responsibilities:
- Participate in feasibility studies and preliminary design of new projects, including the coordination of civil engineering design services with external design offices (architects/engineers) and other equipment/services (MEP building services and accelerator equipment), leading to the submission of detailed designs to CERN users.
- Participate in the preparation of invitations to tender, selection of firms, opening of offers and decisions related to designer or contractor selection.
- Supervise the execution of civil engineering works on-site, ensuring compliance with contractual design drawings and specification documents in liaison with external consultants (architects/engineers), while monitoring measurements, payments, costs and schedules.
- Organise hand-over procedures for civil works, follow up any subsequent work required to ensure compliance with specifications, and ensure that all safety measures are implemented on-site to keep the accident rate to a minimum.
Key requirements
- Interest in construction projects and project coordination, with a willingness to learn under the guidance of senior engineers.
- Organised, proactive, flexible and able to work autonomously in a multi-tasking environment.
- Good communication and team spirit in an international environment, with an open-minded and diplomatic approach. Skills:
- Good knowledge of project management tools, including proficiency in the MS Office suite and MS Project.
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
- Spoken and written English or French, with a commitment to learn the other language. Eligibility criteria:
- You are a national of a CERN Member or Associate Member State .
- You have a professional background in Civil Engineering (or a related field) and have either:
- a Master's degree with 2 to 6 years of post-graduation professional experience;
- or a PhD with no more than 3 years of post-graduation professional experience.
- You have never had a CERN fellow or graduate contract before.
