Role overview

Mission

As part of a temporary mission, EPFL's communications department, Mediacom, is looking for an experienced internal communications officer to strengthen its team.

The Communications Officer will help ensure the continuity of EPFL's ongoing internal communication activities in a phase where the incumbent will conduct a project to define the tools, processes and governance arrangements needed to establish a new centralized internal communication unit.

Main responsibilities

  • Main tasks and responsibilities Internal institutional communication
  • Provide operational support to EPFL's ongoing internal institutional communication activities such as:
  • Write, read and adapt content for the various internal EPFL audiences, including collaborators, students, service managers and communication relays
  • Participate in updating the dedicated page of EPFL's institutional annual report
  • Participate in the identification of existing tools and content that can contribute to the success of EPFL's future internal communication strategy
  • Support for the preparatory phase of the future internal communication unit
  • Contribute to the development of an internal communications governance model, in conjunction with Mediacom, Vice-Presidents, Central Services and the Internal Communications Working Group
  • Participate in the development of an annual calendar of institutional communications to better anticipate, coordinate and prioritize major internal communications
  • Participate in the analysis and structuring of the portfolio of internal communication tools, clarifying the role and articulation of existing channels and developing, in particular with a view to creating an intranet
  • Contribute to the development of guidelines, processes and good practices in the planning, prioritization, validation and dissemination of institutional communications Profile Training

Key requirements

  • Diploma in communication, marketing, public relations, journalism or equivalent

Contacts

  • Participate in the preparation of institutional messages, content for internal newsletters, e-mail communications, internal web pages, presentations and other materials for the EPFL community
  • Validate communications sent by email to the entire EPFL community

Company and context

  • He/she will work closely with EPFL's internal communication manager, Mediacom management and other project stakeholders and will also be involved in the development of deliverables for the future organization.
  • The position is part of a transformation phase aimed at strengthening the coherence of institutional messages, the coordination of internal communications, the readability of channels and the cohesion of the EPFL community.
  • Mastery of work organization and publishing tools (such as Microsoft SharePoint, Slack, Wordpress, etc.)
