Application process
- You will play an active role in improving PS operation through data driven analysis, high level control applications and automation-oriented developments, with the aim of making operation more robust, reproducible and efficient. Functions:
- Take an active role in the safe, efficient and performance-driven operation of the PS and its associated beam lines during commissioning, regular operation, and machine development studies.
- Analyse PS operational issues, assess their impact on beam performance and availability, and collaborate with equipment experts, controls specialists and operations teams to define and implement effective solutions.
- Drive automation-oriented developments for PS operation by identifying operational processes that can be made more robust, reproducible and efficient, and translating them into tools, procedures and applications that increase the autonomy of the accelerator.
- Drive the performance optimisation of the PS beams for the LHC and the fixed target facilities, combining accelerator studies, operational data analysis and close collaboration with operations crews, machine experts and physics users.
- Prepare, validate and improve operational settings, procedures and diagnostics required for reliable and reproducible PS operation.
- Engage in cross-accelerator activities to share operational experience, promote synergies and develop common approaches for performance optimisation, software tools and automation, ensuring that best practices are transferred across CERN’s accelerator complex.
- Develop, maintain and improve software tools, high level control applications and data analysis workflows supporting performance optimisation and operational decision making.

- Master's Degree or PhD or equivalent relevant experience in the field of Physics, Engineering or a related field.
- Knowledge of Java, accelerator controls, high level control applications or operational software would be an asset. Technical competencies:
