Role overview
You will work on the qualification and characterisation of High Temperature Superconductor (HTS) tapes and cables that will be used for the High-Luminosity Upgrade of the Large Hadron Collider (HL-LHC) as well as for the development and fabrication of high-field magnets.

Main responsibilities

- Perform reel-to-reel indirect critical current measurements.
- Conduct direct critical current and contact resistance measurements.
- Analyse and present experimental test results.
- Install the instrumentation in superconducting magnets.
- Participate in the assembly and testing in the 100 kA class power transmission systems of the HL-LHC.
- Verify and validate the instrumentation integrated into these systems.
Key requirements
- Experience in electrical testing or material testing.
- Experience in material testing would be an asset. Skills
- Knowledge in instrumentation and data acquisition.
- Ability to read electrical diagrams.
- Able to work independently and in teams.
- Reliable and autonomous.
- Spoken and written English or French, with a commitment to learn the other language. Eligibility criteria:
- You are a national of a CERN Member or Associate Member State .

- By the application deadline, you have a maximum of two years of professional experience since graduation in Electrical and Electronics Engineering (or a related field) and your highest educational qualification is a general secondary education diploma .
- You have never had a CERN fellow or graduate contract before.
- Applicants with a Bachelor's, Master's or PhD degree are not eligible.
