Applications must be submitted in writing with a letter of application, a short curriculum vitae and a recently issued (not older than one year) statement of penal and enforcement records.

• Lawyer's patent, licence or master's degree and sufficient practical knowledge for the performance of the office

• Experience in the field of the peace court according to art. 58 JG is an advantage

• Voting rights in cantonal matters. Foreign nationals must hold a residence permit and have been resident in the canton for at least five years. There shall be no loss certificates against the persons. They must not have been convicted of acts incompatible with the judicial office

• Master of the French and German languages. The elected person must be able to conduct negotiations in both languages
