Mission

Responsibilities

Are you looking for a job where you don't spend half your life behind a desk? Do you dream of supporting a team every day and achieving goals together? Do you want to be the boss of your own small business without taking on the risk of being a sole proprietor? Then the Team Leader position in Heimberg is exactly what you're looking for. Why?

  • Start date: immediately or by agreement
  • Standort: Heimberg, Bern
  • Workload: 100%
  • 1. You spend 80% of your time in the Store on the sales floor Your department is your territory. Whether you spend time with your team, ensure that the merchandising standards are in place, or directly delight our customers. You don't sit on the bench. Strategy is important, but we're looking for a hands-on personality for the sales floor.
  • 2. Your success is your team's success Your job isn't to control everything, but to make everything possible. A team member is passionate about their sport and has an innovative idea for the department in the Store? Let them run with it! Success or failure? Doesn't matter. The main thing is that you learn together and grow from it.
  • 3. You're in the driver's seat Here, you run your department like your own start-up. From precise inventory planning and in-depth KPI analysis to recruiting your talent and commercial strategy. You have a firm grip on the wheel. In Schaffhausen, you run your business independently and do everything you can not only to achieve your goals, but to exceed them.

What a Team Leader does here

Your mission is simple: The success of your department – in both human and economic terms.

  • Store Life: You coordinate the flow of goods, pitch in, and, as “Captain,” are regularly the point of contact for the entire store.
  • People Management: You conduct monthly coaching conversations (INDI), create schedules and find the best talent for your team.
  • Strategy: You analyze your metrics and plan the next big thing. Which sports will we push next season? How do we further develop your team's skills?
  • Business Ownership: P&L and KPI analyses are not abstract theory for you, but your daily tools. You run your department like your own company and make bold decisions for greater profitability.

What we offer you

  • Responsibility from day one – we and your team trust you implicitly.
  • Career without limits – from Team Leader to Store Manager, Ecosystem-Leader. Here, there are no limits to what you or your ambition can achieve.
  • 30 days of vacation – so that you have enough time for your own sporting adventures.
  • Profit sharing & shares – You have the exclusive opportunity to invest up to 25% of your gross salary in company shares and thus participate directly in our growth.
  • Sports & Mobility Bonus – we get you moving.
  • Team Bonus - Together with your team, you have the chance to receive a monthly bonus of up to 10% of your gross salary.
  • Kick-start to family happiness – Because the first moments are priceless, we support you with 16 weeks of maternity leave as you embark on your greatest adventure away from the sales floor.

Profile

Is this job really right for you? We're honest - the perfect job without any rough edges doesn't exist. Our teams will tell you what you really need:

  • #1: Love of people - If you don't enjoy communicating with people, this isn't for you. You must love your team and want to help it grow.
  • #2: Courage to take risks - We want proactivity. You may make mistakes, but you have to dare to jump in at the deep end.
  • #3: Sports DNA - You don't just sell products, you sell passion.
  • #4: Winning mentality - We love competition and business performance. You should want not only to achieve goals, but to chase them.
  • #5: Language match - German and English aren't obstacles for you, but rather your home turf. You have a confident command of both languages (German C1, English B2) to inspire our international team and athletes every day.
  • #6: Retail foundation - You learned the trade from the ground up. With your training in retail (or an equivalent qualification), you know the rules of the game and bring the necessary skills to make the decisive difference on the sales floor.
  • #7: Saturday spirit - Saturdays are our final matches. While others relax, you perform at your best. Because the heart of sport beats loudest on weekends, and we are there as a team for our community.

Questions about this listing

What salary does Decathlon offer for this role?

The original listing does not state a salary. Our estimate for this role and sector in Heimberg is CHF 94'500 - 143'000 gross per year — an estimate, not a figure communicated by Decathlon. The calculator on this site converts a gross salary into your actual net take-home once cross-border tax and social contributions are applied.

Is this a full-time role, and what type of contract does Decathlon offer?

The original posting does not state the contract type or the working hours. Ask Decathlon about hours, contract duration, notice period and probation during the application process.

Do I need a cross-border work permit for a role in Bern?

EU/EFTA residents living in the border zone of the country adjoining Canton Bern can apply for a G permit; the Swiss employer files it with that canton's migration office after the contract is signed. Border-zone rules and processing times vary by neighbouring country and canton, so confirm the specifics with Bern's cantonal migration office or with HR during the application.
