Portrait The gibb is a vocational school of the Canton of Bern. We teach around 7,000 young people in more than 60 commercial-industrial professions and train about 800 working people in higher vocational training (HBB) on an extra-occupational basis. Around 1,000 learners attend the Vocational Maturity School (BMS) in various orientations.
The IET department offers the Vocational School for EFZ basic education and training in the fields of computer science and electrical engineering.

Tasks
As head of department: at IET, a versatile and exciting job awaits you. Together with your team, you are responsible for 3 professional groups with a total of 6 professions, over 100 teachers and over 1000 learners and students. Your communication skills are in demand: Internally, you communicate with teachers, lecturers and employees. They foster exchange with learners, students and training companies and use synergies with the other departments of gibb. The cooperation with the organizations of the working world, the secondary school and vocational training office and other partners complements your work.
They deal with questions of good and up-to-date instruction, where they are responsible for professional, pedagogical, organizational and human resources that this is guaranteed in the department. In the school management of gibb, you represent the department and take the view of the comprehensive school with your colleagues, devoting yourself to strategic questions and helping to shape gibb in a future-oriented manner in times of change.
Requirements
- You are a motivating, convincing personality with very good organizational and communicative skills as well as high social competence.
- They are interested in breaking new ground, further developing teaching and organisation, jointly seeking future-oriented solutions and implementing them.
- They have a flair in dealing with young people, teachers but also external contacts.
- They have experience and training in leadership as well as educational training and experience in teaching in vocational education.
- A degree at university, technical college or higher vocational training level and professional experience in computer science or the electrical industry round off your profile.
- Through the development of national and international projects and activities, intercultural competences and foreign languages are becoming increasingly important at gibb.
