• Development of a doctoral project with a view to a possible submission of a research application
• Participation in the scientific exchange of department and institute

Requirements

• Master’s degree until 20 October 2026 or equivalent degree in Historical Sciences
• Self-responsible and reliable working methods
• Regular presence in Bern and participation in the life of the institute
• Enrollment at the University of Bern for the FS 2027

• Sketch of the promotion project (2–3 pages) incl. Indication of a possible caregiver at the Institute in Bern and possible funding vessels for further financing

At the Historical Institute of the University of Bern, we research and teach historical science in its entire thematic breadth and methodological diversity. The research deals with the history of Europe from antiquity to the present as well as with the historical past of non-European regions.
