Portrait The school district Länggasse-Felsenau is an important part of a diverse and lively living and educational space in the city of Bern. Cycle 3 is divided between the two school buildings Hochfeld 1 and Enge and comprises a total of around 400 students in 20 classes. Schoolhouse Hochfeld 1 hosts 15 classes, including three talent classes. Diversity, appreciation and mutual respect characterise our everyday school life.

As one of our long-term principals retires in the summer of 2027, we are looking for a dedicated personality to complement our school management team in High Field 1. Together with the two co-directors on site and another co-director in the school building Enge, you take responsibility for the management and further development of our school and actively shape its future.

Tasks

• Together with the co-directors and the dedicated team, you will continue to develop the quality of the school and take up current social, educational and school developments.
• You lead with clarity, esprit and empathy, provide orientation and inspire employees for common goals. You take responsibility for personnel management, even in demanding situations.
• You are responsible for the MR area as well as a part of the administration and organization of the operative school operation.
• Together with the co-directors, you lead location and schoolhouse conferences.
• School management positions the school as an attractive and future-oriented place to learn and work and fosters a constructive exchange with relevant stakeholders from education, administration and neighbourhoods.
• You advise and accompany students and guardians in school issues and are responsible for career decisions as well as topics related to the child’s well-being.
• You work closely with the school management in the school circle and the school committee and are actively involved.

Requirements

• You have an educational education, preferably in cycle 3, as well as teaching experience and a track record in working with adolescents of primary school age.
• You have already completed, started or are ready to start school management training (or similar leadership training).
• Experience in the MR area is an advantage. Otherwise, you will bring the willingness to continue your education in this area.
• You are a team-oriented personality with strategic vision and the ability to shape development processes in a participatory and effective way.
• You appreciate the collegial cooperation with the co-school leaders of Cycle 3 and are committed, constructive and reliable in the joint leadership.
• You work in a networked, solution-oriented way and also keep track of challenging situations.
• You also make informed decisions in challenging situations and act in a binding, transparent and responsible manner.
• You will meet different cultures, perspectives and living environments with openness, interest and appreciation and will work for an inclusive and respectful school culture.

We offer

The school management in Hochfeld 1 consists of three people with clearly divided areas of responsibility. Together with the co-director in the Enge School House, you form a closely collaborating team in which you support each other and develop the school as a whole.

Your employment level would look like this

• 35-40% school management with MR and regular school management
• 10% Household
• Additional lessons if desired
• Presence at least 3 days

The employment is for the entire school circle. If necessary, in addition to the advertised tasks, further activities within the school circle can be transferred.
