For our client in the insurance sector in Bern, we are looking for an experienced, motivated and open-minded Senior Business Analyst - Data Steward.

In this role, you will serve as a central interface between business units, IT and development teams and be responsible for the business analysis, quality and further development of data products. You will combine your expertise in business analysis and data management with temporary responsibility as a Product Owner in an agile SAFe environment.

Your responsibilities

• Gathering, analyzing and documenting business requirements for data products, reports and data processes
• Investigation and analysis of complex data sets and data relationships using SQL
• Definition and further development of data quality rules, quality metrics and business metadata
• Carrying out business clarifications regarding data products, data replications and Data Contracts
• Business review and validation of data models and ensuring data quality
• Creation and maintenance of business documentation, Q&As and supporting tools
• Close collaboration with business units, system architects and development teams to align business and technical requirements
• Temporary assumption of classic Product Owner tasks such as backlog management, prioritization and stakeholder alignment in a scaled agile environment according to SAFe

Your profile

• At least 7 years of professional experience in business analysis, requirements engineering or data management, ideally in the insurance sector
• In-depth understanding of insurance processes, particularly in contract administration and sales, as well as the underlying data flows
• Proven experience in gathering, analyzing and documenting complex business requirements
• Good knowledge of data quality, data governance, data contracts and metadata management
• In-depth SQL knowledge and experience with data analyses and the business evaluation of data models
• Practical knowledge of Power BI and ideally experience with Databricks, Oracle Database and Azure SQL
• Experience in agile organizations following SAFe and ideally in the role of Product Owner
• Strong analytical skills, a structured approach to work, and a high level of quality awareness and sense of responsibility
• Strong communicator with experience in stakeholder management and collaboration between business and IT
• Very good spoken and written German and English skills for collaboration with international and offshore teams
