Portrait The School for Design Bern and Biel is the competence center for creative-artistic, creative-technical and creative-craft basic education in Espace Mittelland. Around 900 learners attend our vocational school in one of the 17 teaching professions in the fields of design, communication and media. In the preliminary course, the propaedeutics art and design and in the graphic, media & design and ceramic design specialist classes, we train around 150 learners in full-time training. 200 students complete an education in higher vocational training (Tertiary Level B) and over 800 participants attend our further education offers.
As a result of retirement of the job owner, we are looking for 1. August 2027 at the Bern location
Tasks
- They head the Vocational School department and bear the personnel, pedagogical and organizational responsibility.
- They accompany and guide the teachers in professional and pedagogical terms.
- You are responsible for the personnel, hourly and financial planning of your department.
- They ensure the scheduled implementation of the lessons of around 70 classes.
- They represent the vocational school in cantonal and national committees and conferences.
- As a member of the school management, you contribute to the strategic development of the comprehensive school.
- They take over project management in the areas of school and quality development, design and pedagogy.
- On request, you can take on a small lesson.
Requirements
- They have a basic design and/or further education.
- They are familiar with the dual vocational training landscape.
- You have a vocational pedagogical/didactic training.
- They bring leadership experience and have ideally completed a corresponding further education.
- They are well connected in the fields of media, communication, design and art.
- You are a convincing leader who can inspire people to share common goals and bring different interests together.
- They work in a structured, networked way and enjoy the further development of an educational institution.
