Do you enjoy building, assembling and bringing machines to life?

Join CERN and contribute to the development of advanced electro-mechanical equipment used in a unique high-technology environment.

Working alongside experienced engineers and technicians, you will take part in the design, assembly, wiring, testing and commissioning of specialised machines, gaining hands-on experience across electrical, mechanical and control systems.

Main responsibilities

  • Learn how to inspect and test advanced materials, carrying out quality checks and measurements to ensure they meet specifications.
  • Support laboratory testing activities and help evaluate how materials behave under different mechanical conditions.
  • Gain hands-on experience in creating electrical diagrams, wiring equipment, programming PLCs, and commissioning electro-mechanical machines.
  • Participate in the assembly, testing and operation of specialised machinery used in a cutting-edge engineering environment.
  • Work with experienced engineers and technicians to integrate new materials into innovative cables and coils for future technologies.

Key requirements

  • Basic experience in electrical testing or material testing.
  • Basic experience in reading and drawing of circuit diagrams.
  • Experience in the cabling and commissioning of electrical cabinets or machines is an advantage.
  • Experience in mechanical assembly is an advantage. Skills

  • Able to work independently and in teams.
  • Reliable and autonomous.
  • Spoken and written English or French, with a commitment to learn the other language. Eligibility criteria:
  • You are a national of a CERN Member or Associate Member State .
