Main responsibilities

  • Your role and responsibilities As a research scientist in
  • Software Systems Engineering, you will be working on the future architecture and design of ABB’s software-based products, with a special focus on the digitalization of industrial systems.
  • You will work within the highly motivated, international team of scientists at ABB Research.

  • Contribute to and/or lead research projects that turn state-of-the-art research results into effective software solutions for ABB.
  • Create prototypes of innovative concepts with real business impact
  • Evaluate new technologies and assess their impact on ABB products and roadmaps.

Key requirements

  • PhD in computer science, computer engineering, electrical engineering or in a related field
  • Experience in software engineering and system design
  • Theoretical and practical knowledge in one or multiple of the following topics: software engineering, distributed systems, computer networking, embedded systems, machine learning, cyber security
  • Hands-on experience in programming languages (e.g., C/C++, Python, Rust)
  • Proven publication track record at top scientific conferences and journals
  • Excellent communication skills and team player attitude
  • Solid experience of getting ideas from concepts to prototypes
