During the event, the first-responder entities will present their daily work with stands in direct contact with citizens. The Municipality of Chiasso and the Chiasso Police are the initiators of this initiative, which aims to create greater awareness of the importance of rescue and safety in everyday life. The event will be a testament to how collaboration between local entities can lead to concrete and positive results for the community. During the event, visitors will be able to discover how rescue services are organized in case of emergency. For example, the Chiasso Police has implemented an alarm system that allows citizens to be alerted in real-time in case of danger. This system was tested during an exercise in July 2022 and has demonstrated its effectiveness in ensuring citizen safety. In addition, visitors will be able to discover how rescuers are trained to face common emergencies. Mission Emergency: Chiasso Becomes 'Capital' of Rescue and Safety Chiasso has transformed into a reality acceleration for a day, where law enforcement and rescue services have come together to present their activities and services to citizens. Among the participants are the Chiasso Municipal Police, the Cantonal Police, the TPO Transport Police, the Federal Customs Administration and Border Security (UDSC), and the Canton P Rescue Centre. These entities have set up stands throughout the city, where citizens can inform themselves and get a clearer idea of how law enforcement works and how it interacts with citizens. "Security is a fundamental public good, and as law enforcement, it is our duty to protect it," says the head of the Chiasso Municipal Police. "This event is a unique opportunity to make our services known and to listen to the concerns of the community." One concrete example of how law enforcement works together is the 'Border Security' project, launched in 2020 with a CHF 500,000.00 grant. This project has allowed for increased police presence along the Italian border and improved cooperation between law enforcement agencies. According to data provided by the authorities, in 2022, 12,500 border controls were carried out, with a 20% increase compared to 2021. The Cantonal Police presented its 'Road Safety' project, which involves the installation of 20 new cameras in critical points of the Ticino road network.
