Each city page lists the employers with the most new openings over the last 7 days and the delta vs the previous week — useful for cross-border job seekers who want to focus their applications on companies actively in hiring mode. Updated every Monday morning from the aggregated job-board feeds: today 7111 active openings across 346 companies.
How it works. Every Monday at 06:00 UTC our pipeline compares the active-jobs snapshot for Ticino against the previous week's snapshot and computes, for each company and each city, the count of new openings (positive delta) and closed openings (negative delta). The canton's six main centres — Lugano, Mendrisio, Chiasso, Stabio, Bellinzona, Locarno — plus the Ticino-wide aggregated page each get a dedicated card. For Italian cross-border workers this is the fastest operational signal: a positive delta for two consecutive weeks on the same company is the best moment to send an application, even outside an exactly aligned opening, because HR and line managers are actively assessing profiles. The six cities are ordered by GSC visibility on "companies hiring in {city}" queries, and each opens the full list of employers with at least three live openings.

The six cities shown here are not equidistant from the Italian border: Chiasso and Mendrisio are reachable in under 15 minutes from the Brogeda crossing on the TILO S10/S50 lines, Lugano takes 25-30 minutes on the same line, while Bellinzona and Locarno add a Lugano transfer and push the door-to-door journey to 60-75 minutes. When you open a city card you see the weekly delta per employer: cross-referencing it with the commute zone you find sustainable (by Arcobaleno season-ticket cost and total travel time) gives you a shortlist of companies to focus spontaneous applications on. The per-company × city card is then the most granular level: it tells you whether the same industrial group concentrates hiring in Lugano or spreads it across Mendrisio and Chiasso, so you can pick the location with the better commute even before reading the job description.

How we collect listings and what this page guarantees
Listings on this page come from a proprietary crawler that polls the main Swiss ATS (Smartrecruiters, Workday, proprietary trackers like Talentry and ServiceNow) every 6 hours, plus the cantonal Ticino Job Center, JobUp, JobScout24 and the career pages of long-standing Ticino employers. Every listing passes a deduplication check on normalised title + company + municipality before publication, so the same role does not appear twice even when the employer posts it on three portals. The displayed date is the original publication date — not the crawl timestamp — so you can judge the freshness. We keep listings online for 30 days or until the employer removes them from its ATS (we verify HTTP 404 and "position closed" redirects every 12 hours).

The "border zone" of the 2024 Italy-Switzerland fiscal agreement applies to all Italian municipalities within 20 km of the Swiss border, regardless of work city: Lugano, Mendrisio, Chiasso, Bellinzona, Locarno and Stabio. The G permit filed by the Swiss employer is free of charge; issuance takes 2-6 weeks after contract signature, then yearly renewal up to the contract end. Does Ticino have a different border zone than the rest of Switzerland?
No: the "border zone" of the 2024 Italy-Switzerland agreement is the same across the Canton of Ticino — Italian municipalities within 20 km of the Swiss border. What changes between Lugano and Bellinzona is the commute time, not the tax regime. Your Italian residence stays in the same municipality even if you switch employers between Ticino cities.
